Racing and raising: Summit’s charity 5K for Save the Children

Summit, in partnership with tcc Foundation (part of tcc Global), believes in supporting children’s development in meaningful, measurable and innovative ways. The tcc Foundation exists so that, in our small way, we can improve the lives of children around the world, by helping to protect vulnerable children, tackle child hunger and support healthy eating.

On Friday 26th April, Summit employees took part in a ‘5K and Sports Day’ event across their offices in Yorkshire, London and Prague. This was organised to raise money for Save The Children, as well as to encourage positive health and wellbeing by staying active. Many staff had never completed a 5K before and followed a ‘Couch to 5K’ plan to train for the event.

Staff from Yorkshire ran 12 laps around the track at Costello Athletics Stadium in Hull, as well as competing in relay, sack race and long jump events. Prague staff completed their run around Stromovka Park in the city centre, and London staff followed a route around Regent’s Park. To make the event inclusive, we also streamed the Yorkshire event so those who couldn’t be there could watch the race too.

In total we had 68 Summit staff (including CEO Hedley Aylott) complete the 5K courses and to date we have raised £1996.89 for Save The Children. We’re proud to participate and help raise funds and awareness for this charity. We’d like to thank everyone for their contributions.
